Online Programming

Exercise programming is a popular avenue for those who would like the motivation, guidance and advice from a qualified Exercise Physiologist, who do not have the team nor the means for regular sessions. The programs provide weekly and daily training regimes which you are required to follow to achieve your goals but do not think you are on your own after we give you your program. You will be in contact with an Exercise Physiologist who will be available for constant guide on your training and any questions you may have. Our Exercise Programs have most value when completed in conjunction with our Nutrition Plans.

Our online programming involves an interview either in person, by phone or over Skype on your medical, exercise and lifestyle history. An accredited Exercise Physiologist will design a program according to your goals. The program is designed according to your needs and prescribed according to previous research. Each program will be different, depending on your age, health and exercise history.  Our philosophy of using the science behind exercise begins from our online programming where we have attained successful results. Our exercise programs can be tailored for:

  • Strength

Nutrition Plans

Nutrition is a practice which many struggle to find balance, especially when we are exercising. Exercise can make us overeat as we feel we have earnt it, as well as gaining an increased metabolism from training. Our nutrition plans are carefully designed by nutritionists to help achieve your goals and compliment your lifestyle and exercise regime. These plans work best when accompanied by our exercise regimes.

Our plans are based on previous research, which discovers many different eating habits and lifestyles. Our plans are designed to either gain, maintain or reduce weight according to your goals, as well as keep healthy levels in blood sugar, cholesterol and fat ratios. Our plans are available in many different options such as vegan, vegetarian and gluten free. We aim to make our plans easy to maintain and fit into a busy schedule.

Mobile Personal Training & Exercise Physiology

We shouldn’t put off exercising due to our busy schedules. Mobile trainers and Exercise Physiologists can make the time to travel to your own home, local park or wherever is convenient for you to exercise.

Our Exercise physiologists have experience with metabolic, cardiac and neurological conditions and can conduct exercise sessions to rehabilitate and improve the quality of life of their patients. Their programming is designed according to evidence based research, on the most effective exercise treatments to a specific condition.

Our mobile trainers just need a location! They have all the equipment necessary and will work with you in achieving your goals. Their exercise prescription is based on your individual goals, where they will motivate you and keep you accountable. Sessions can be conducted as a 1 on 1 session as well as in groups of up to 5.

Group Personal Training (Outdoor)

The Science of Healthy Living members can have access to early morning outdoor group training sessions with a large variety of training modalities and intensities. These sessions are run by ‘Evolution to Wellbeing’ trainers, a large community who starts the day at 6am to exercise together and be a part of a strong community in the beautiful outdoors.

YOGA

Yoga ultimately aims us to connect our body and mind where a large emphasis is placed on engaging with the breath in a mind full and integrated way. As a result we are able to consciously activate the parasympathetic nervous system. The parasympathetic nervous system stimulates the relax and digest response, calming the mind and body relieving it from stress and anxiety. The science shows that yoga has many benefits in the human body, and this is why we believe in its practice. By depending our awareness of the body through yoga, and focusing on engaging with a steady, long and even breath whilst moving the health benefits are huge. An active parasympathetic nervous system leads to:

  • Decreased blood pressure
  • Decreased heart rate
  • Increased blood flow to the reproductive and digestive organs, the endocrine and lymphatic systems.

The Science of Healthy Living will be offering classes in a Vinyasa Flow Yoga style by our very own, Annabel. Vinyasa Flow means to link breath to movement. This particular style of yoga is highly accessible for the modern day person. It structures itself around a thorough warm up, guiding people’s bodies safely and fluidly into the challenging poses of traditional Hatha Yoga. The emphasis of Vinyasa is to initiate each movement with the breath, resulting in a practice that can be quite dynamic, challenging the muscular endurance of the body. However Vinyasa Flow also allows freedom and space for a more restorative, slow and steady yoga practice, where greater emphasis is on holding postures rather than moving dynamically through them. A regular yoga practice will assist the body in its ability to extract nutrients from food,  and effectively remove toxins and waste from the body, preventing it from disease and illness. Some of the benefits of yoga include:

  • Decreased in blood sugar levels
  • Regulation of adrenal glands
  • Decreased blood pressure
  • Increased immune function
  • Prevention of cartilage and joint breakdown
  • Increase of heart rate for cardiovascular fitness
  • Improves flexibility and strength
  • Prevents virus and sickness

Pre/Postnatal Exercise Sessions

Living an active and healthy lifestyle throughout pregnancy is crucial. Evidence suggests that by keeping active and eating well during pregnancy, we can reduce the chances of gastrointestinal diabetes in the mother and the development of problems and diseases in the unborn child. The health of the baby is directly affected by what you do while they are in the womb, as a recent study showed, where the health f mother before pregnancy is not as important as how healthy they are while they are pregnant.

The Science of Healthy Living can help you! There is no harm in doing exercise while you are pregnant as long as you are exercising sensibly and avoid particular modalities. In fact there are major benefits of exercise during pregnancy and all mothers should be making the time to train. Furthermore, postnatal exercise is equally as important, as the body needs to get back on track and remove all those unwanted kilograms.

Rehabilitation

Recovery from injury can be a tedious journey which the Science of Healthy Living aims to make easier. We have an experienced collaborative team at Tensegrity Clinics who specialise in rehabilitation. Together, our team of allied health professionals can get you back on track and participating in your regular activities faster and stronger. Our experience and knowledge is backed by the most recent evidence which will drive good results.
